Travelling Around Mull
panel of pictures of Mull views
If you want to leave your car at home there are a number of ways to get to Mull. You will probably have your own favourite travel websites but the following may be useful:
Trains | National Express and Scottish Citylink | Planes |Travelline Scotland|sea plane
If you are driving please take a moment to familiarise yourself with driving on single track roads - give way to oncoming traffic & let cars overtake using the passing places (always keep to the left, even if passing place is on the right).
Buses travel from Tobermory to Craignure, Dervaig, & Calgary and there is a bus service between Craignure and Fionnphort. There is also a link bus to Duart Castle from Craignure in the main season. This meets the 9.50am, the 11.55am and the 2pm ferries on Sunday to Friday. On Saturdays it meets the 9.30am, 11.45am and the 2pm ferries. Please check with the driver for return times.
Argyll and Bute Council offer a travel guide to help you with travel in this area. But this is quite hard to understand so we have put together a guide to travelling from Tobermory to Fionnphort and Iona and back in a day. We have also provided a guide for buses that connect with the ferry at Craignure. The times given in these 2009 guides remain the same for 2010.
Enjoy a scenic trip on the little steam train - it isn't just for children. This is an ideal way to get to Torosay Castle and Gardens.
